how we met

Her Story

Issy's Version

Ayo and I met back in 2019 through his sister Titi. I had first met Titi when my sister booked her to do our makeup for my brother’s wedding in 2018. Titi and I stayed in touch after that and she mentioned to me she had a brother that lived in Dallas after I mentioned to her that I was moving to Dallas and she gave me his number.
Fast forward to end of April 2019, I hadn’t texted or reached out to Ayo since (cause I was initially talking to someone else 😬 ) until one day while at work, I just felt this very strong urge to text him and I did! Ayo and I went from texting to talking and then FaceTiming everyday since then. We would just get on FaceTime and talk for hours about anything and everything. When I first came to Dallas apartment hunting with my friends, Ayo was very hospitable and showed us a good time and drove us around. He made sure we ate at some of the best local spots and experienced a taste of the Dallas nightlife.
The day I moved to Dallas, Ayo literally came straight from work (in his work clothes) to help me unload and move everything into my apartment and from there, we kept hanging out and still talking pretty much everyday building a friendship. After a year of being friends, and Ayo doing shakara for me (LOL) we decided to make it official and it was literally all vibes from there LOL 😉

His Story

Ayo's Version

Issy and I met in 2019 through my sister Titi. She sent me a text that she has a friend moving to Dallas in the next months and wanted to see if it was ok to give her my number so I can provide some tips and share my experience with my move from Baltimore to Dallas.

She reached out to me and we texted for a few hours about the move and left it at that. She reached out to me again about a month or so later, and we started building a friendship from then. I was going through a tough season at that time and she was there to talk to me, we texted and FaceTimed for some time. She visited Dallas with her friends to look at apartments, and I finally got a chance to hang out in person and she was really fun to be around. She moved to Dallas in Summer of 2019, and she expressed her feelings to me, but I wasn’t in the right state of mind for a relationship, but she was persistent even though I wanted to remain friends. we kept hanging out and still talking pretty much everyday building a friendship. After almost a year of being friends, I continued praying to God about my relationship in general and how I don’t want to date the wrong person. After sometime, I felt confident in my heart that God had answered my prayers with Issy. I reached out to one of my spiritual mentors and shared everything with him regarding Issy and how we started. He literally told me to park my car on the side of the road and slap myself on the cheek, he then proceeds to showing me how God has answered my prayers and I’ve been the one blocking my answers.

I decided to take the bold step, and on May 9, 2020 I asked her to be my girlfriend, Since then we have lived by Proverbs 3:6 by learning to put God first in our relationship, and he has perfected everything for us. On May 7, 2023 I asked her to be my wife, and the rest is history.
